Dear Colleagues:
Welcome to the web site of the HANYS Political Action Committee (PAC) and the New York State Hospital and Healthcare Associations’ (NYSHHA) Federal PAC. Our 2007 PAC campaign is underway and members of the health care community who are eligible to contribute to the PACs can contribute online by credit card, learn about the PACs, and download materials from our fundraising tool kit to assist with a PAC campaign.
The PACs send a powerful message of unity on behalf of hospital and health care leaders. Contributors are pooling their donations with those of thousands of peers in New York State and tens of thousands of peers across the nation. By together helping to elect people who care about health care, our message is clearly heard by policymakers in both Albany and Washington, D.C.
This collective voice communicates that government reimbursement and private sector payment must recognize the true costs of patient care, medical education, innovation in quality and technology, emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, and a quality workforce. Reform initiatives must focus on caring for the uninsured, underserved, and other vulnerable populations. Providers should be able to spend more time on patient care and less time on paperwork.
Supporting the PACs ensures that hospitals, health systems, and continuing care providers have a meaningful voice in the outcome on these vital issues. Interest groups from many disciplines work to have their voice heard, and we need to be at the forefront of the debate. Over the last several years, our message has been heard and we have defeated billions of dollars in proposed state and federal health care cuts, and won several major new investments in health care.
HANYS PAC, the NYSHHA Federal PAC, and our federal affiliate—the American Hospital Association PAC, give us a strong voice in Albany and Washington. We thank those of you who have contributed to this success. We will continue to succeed only with your support. We thank you for your participation in the current 2007 fundraising campaign.
